    • Need towels in OnsenSofter bedsAnd deluxe pillows
    • The onsen is incredible. The staff did a terrific job making us feel welcome and comfortable. Access to Asahidake couldn't be easier. Tons of food proved. Almost too much. It was hard to be hungry for the excellent breakfast after eating the excellent dinner
    • Such a cozy retreat! We skied the asahidake ropeway and were able to walk from/ski back to the property. The breakfast buffet was insane- tons of Western and Japanese options and the dinners were GREAT at night-- esp the Japanese ones! We also enjoyed wine hour from 9-10p. The private onsens were awesome and always available when we wanted them

    Cons -

    • Bed stiffness
    • Food was excellent quality but still felt expensive
    • Japanese restaurant was booked both nights

Fantastic onsen baths. Great breakfast buffet. Great location near Asahidake Ropeway

Japanese restaurant was booked both nights

Breakfasts and dinners were included with our room, and the food was exceptional. We particularly enjoyed the Japanese teppanyaki meal, but the French dinner also was very good. (It was fun dining in pajamas, along with all the other guests.) It's an easy (maybe 15-minute) walk from the hotel to the ropeway up Mt. Asahidake. We didn't climb all the way to the top of the mountain, but the loop trail hike was wonderful. Our room and the spa facilities also were very nice.

The only time choice for our first meal was 8 pm, much later than we would have liked. The second night the choices were 5:30 or 8. It would have been nice had the hotel allowed us to pick the meal time well enough in advice to secure a time that was better for us.

Honestly, as we pulled up to this hotel, the first thing that popped into my head was the movie “The Shining”. But once we got inside, we got checked in very quickly, the property definitely has a rustic feel and is dated but comfortable. The onsen was really nice. Breakfast was also very nice but very busy. We had both the French and Japanese dinners. I think you get more food with the Japanese dinner, the French dinner portions are quite small. They have no end of lovely free amenities like free ice cream bars after your onsen, free varied tea bar in the afternoon, snacks after dinner, and free ramen late night that we never tried as we couldn’t stay up that late. Hotel is walking distance to the ropeway up mount asahidake. Overall a really nice stay. Pillows could be better though. Oh the coffee beans, hand grinder and pour over coffee was kind of fun!

The building, rooms and general atmosphere are very warm and cozy. Rooms are very clean. Onsen is fantastic, especially private onsen rooms accessible for free. Changing snacks, light meals and drinks are served for free throughout the day - very fun.

Staff doesn’t speak English but did their best with Translation apps. Bed is a bit tough to my taste. Dinner at the restaurant is very expensive, feels like it’s partly taking advantage of the lack of food alternatives in the area

Greta location, food was great, the onsen was fantastic

    10HeidiPosted on: 3-17-2025

Amazing stay, definitely need to drive to get to this location but it's worth your getaway. We arrived right at the start of the snow storm, and it makes it more magical. Great food selection, amazing service, there's massage service available (definitely recommended) and a few private onsen available.

Location, onsen and staff were amazing. Food was incredible.

We were here for skiing - it would be nice to have boot warmers in the ski room.

The dinner was absolutely amazing and way too much food for anyone but a sumo wrestler to eat. Very high quality it was great.

the property is a little old but it was fine

The bedding and pillows are a little hard, but otherwise great location!

Far too expensive for quality of room, food and facilities.Highly overrated

    8YumikoPosted on: 8-9-2023

We have so many allergies for the foods and you handled so well to serve us, especially French restaurant. We enjoyed the dinner on that night.

Talking about the allergy Japanese restaurant wasn’t great. We needed open minded service. We didn’t need full menus and could skip some courses.

    9MatthewPosted on: 8-3-2023

Excellent meal courses with outstanding service. English support was available where needed. Communal hot springs facilities were top-notch and private hot springs were excellent as well.

Breakfast time was half an hour too short and we missed it one morning.
